After the main dinner course we had what we had all been waiting for …the awards!

After the nominations, finalists and winners were all announced the BforB paparazzi all took the photos of the 5 big winners! Congratulations everyone!

What a great night it was and the same BforB community spirit and sharing in each others growth and successes was everywhere. I so enjoyed it, enjoyed all the members, local directors and franchisees we met that night – its was great. Hope to be there in 2017!

If you are nervous at public speaking, the best way to start is:

1. Talk about something you are confident about (your business)
2. Speak to a small group of people that you know (BforB)
3. Make sure the topic you are going to speak about is potentially interesting to your audience.
4. Include some interesting examples or “case studies” of the difference you have made to your clients or customers.
5. Smile and make eye contact – the audience are friendly people like you and I who want to hear what you have to say.
6. Practice so you are confident in the overall presentation, as then you will come across as prepared and polished.

1. Write down a list of what products or services you provide. This is the “features”, not the “benefits”. Most of us are confident to do this, but now bin it.
2. Write down a second list of what “solutions” you aim to provide your clients or customers with. Focus on “benefits”, not “features” this time. This is important, as people come to you with a problem that needs a solution. Now we are getting there!
3. What is different about what you do, versus your competitors? Your unique selling point?
4. You may want to complete with an open ended question related to what you do, to engage conversation.

Start looking at your business from this angle and craft this information together into a few sentences in plain English. Make sure it creates interest and enquiry, not being a flat sales pitch. Then practice and tweak it until it flows nicely and you are confident in using it.

Each group has a container of materials for running their meetings. The Host is responsible for ordering materials and tidying the container and this fun award is acknowledging the host and their group that does it best!
